**Manchester United Enter Talks for Raheem Sterling, Conditional on Jadon Sancho Swap**

Manchester United have begun discussions with Chelsea regarding a potential deal for Raheem Sterling, but progress hinges on a swap involving Jadon Sancho, based on United's terms.

United sporting director Dan Ashworth reportedly engaged with Chelsea earlier on Tuesday about a package that could see the two England internationals exchange clubs. With Sterling currently out of Chelsea's first-team squad, United aim to leverage his situation to secure the deal without additional financial outlay.

Chelsea is expected to contribute towards Sterling’s substantial wages, exceeding £300,000 per week, to facilitate his departure. Sancho is of interest to Chelsea as they look to bolster Enzo Maresca’s attacking options.

Additionally, another undisclosed European club is also vying for Sterling. The Telegraph Sport reported that Sterling may train with Chelsea’s Under-21 squad if a deal is not finalized before Friday’s transfer deadline.

Sterling, who was omitted from Chelsea’s squad for the season opener and stripped of his squad number, has been sidelined under Maresca. Chelsea has long admired Sancho, who has had a storied career with Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, and United.

While discussions are preliminary, the potential swap indicates both clubs are willing to explore this unique opportunity. Swap deals between major clubs are uncommon, but this situation presents a rare chance for all involved.

Sterling, 29, has Premier League titles with Manchester City and began his career at Liverpool. Finding a suitable club remains Sterling’s priority. Financial negotiations will be crucial, as Sterling has three years left on his contract, and Chelsea would likely need to cover a significant portion of his salary.

Loaning Sterling out would offer little benefit, leaving him in the same position next year. The swap deal with Sancho introduces a new dimension, with Sancho’s high salary at United being offset by Sterling’s compensation, potentially adding valuable experience to Erik ten Hag’s squad.
